Dr. Sunil Morekar Consultant, Ophthalmology at Fortis Hospital, Vashi is a Professor of Ophthalmology with 30 years of teaching experience, research experience and editorial work. He had done over 75,000 surgeries done including Cataract, Glaucoma, Squint, Neuro Ophthalmology, Cornea and Oculoplastics with six national awards in Oculoplasty, Glaucoma, Neuro Ophthalmology, Cornea and 12 contributions in ophthalmology all named after him with one patent named after him. Done keratoplasties at rural area with co-operation with Nepal and Sri Lanka. He is a Pioneer of Corneal Reinnervation surgery in India where nerve from leg is used to restore eyesight and has conducted three courses in World Congress of Ophthalmology at Mexico, Spain, South Africa on this technique and has delivered 18 lectures in ten countries on this procedure. He is a Co-author of Diabetes Eye Care guidelines translated into 13 languages and adopted by over 23 countries and cited by over 300 reputed papers in pubmed. He is an Educationist having worked with International Association of Medical Science Educators USA training the teachers who teach medical Students. He is an Academician with 60 chapters in textbooks read around the world and lectures conducted in 12 countries. He is an Ex Editor of Bombay Journal of Ophthalmology and Ex Associate editor of national Indian Journal of Ophthalmology. An Ethics in medical practice with presently Co Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the All India Ophthalmology Society and two terms in national society and in the institute and on UNESCO database as ethics expert. He was invited as speaker at 8 world congresses of ophthalmology, one international squint association, world Oculoplasty conference and taught in courses at prestigious conferences across five continents at Egypt, U.K, USA, Australia, Egypt, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Nepal, South Africa, Germany, Spain, Mexico and visiting lecture at Harvard Children's on Pediatric Oculoplasty.
