Dr. Aman Gupta Jan 12, 2021
question-mark ADULT CIRCUMCISION is surrounded by lots of MYTHS! It’s a common procedure done in males and involves surgical removal of foreskin of phallus. Apart from doing Circumcision in boys for religious reasons, it’s often required in adults for some common problems.

Let’s get some facts straight:
Myth: I don’t need Circumcision as an adult
Fact: Circumcision is commonly required in adults for various reasons like phimosis, infection, tight frenulum, cancer, warts etc.

Myth: circumcision will lead to problems in erections!
Fact: Circumcision does not affect erections in any way. In fact, if erections were painful because of tight frenulum or phimosis, it will only get better.

Myth: the size of phallus will reduce after circumcision.
Fact: the foreskin length is not calculated in the size of phallus. So, Circumcision does not affect length in anyways.

Myth: circumcision leads to infertility.
Fact: Circumcision has nothing to do with fertility.

Myth: it takes a long time to heal after Circumcision.
Fact: the healing takes place completely over a period of one month.

Myth: I can resume sex immediately after Circumcision
Fact: sexual activity can be resumed only after one month during which healing takes place

Myth: laser circumcision/ stapler Circumcision are far superior to conventional methods of circumcision.
Fact: the outcomes of conventional method of circumcision are already proven. The other methods of circumcision may not necessarily be far superior to conventional methods! They have advantages over conventional methods only in certain situations.
